Palheiro Golf Course is situated some 10 km east of Funchal with magnificent views overlooking the town and bay. The 18-hole par 72 course was designed by Cabell Robinson in 1993 and is skillfully set in the estate and parkland of the Quinta do Palheiro. Remarkable for its Bermuda fairways, fast greens and the presence of many spectacular mature trees, the course is a worthy challenge for all handicap levels. Palheiro Golf Course Clubhouse has a unique open plan design, which is both spacious and welcoming and has one of the best views on the island. The 27 hole Santo da Serra Golf Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones. All holes offer spectacular views of the mountains, valleys and Madeira's dramatic coastline and there are also views to the islands of Desertas and Porto Santo. The Porto Santo Golf Course was opened on 1 October 2004 by the Sociedade de Desenvolvimento do Porto Santo , Porto Santo Development Company - SDPS, and has already aroused great interest both in Portugal and abroad.
